Obsa Registrar 1

Dear Parents, Players, Coaches, Umpires, and Concerned Community Members,

The California Department of Public Health provided guidance for youth sports on 12/14/2020; therefore, we now have direction and information to move forward with recreational sports. Based on the guidance that was provided, baseball and softball will be allowed in the ‘Red Tier’; therefore, we will begin registration on 02/15/2021. We are tentatively scheduling opening day for 05/22/2021. However, if Stanislaus County reverts to the ‘Purple Tier” of the BluePrint for a safer Economy, the season will be cancelled, because we cannot play Softball or Baseball in the ‘Purple” tier, or ask our volunteers, umpires, players and parents to wait an indefinite amount of time to return to the ‘Red Tier’.

The OBSA tentative season dates are as follows:

  1. Registration - Monday February 15th to Monday March 15th (2/15/21 to 3/15/21)
  2. Tryouts - Saturday April 3rd (4/3/21)
  3. Draft - Tuesday April 6th (4/6/21)
  4. Field Cleanup - Saturday April 1th (4/17/21)
  5. Pre-season Practice Begins - Monday April 26th (4/26/21)
  6. Opening Day - Saturday May 22nd (5/22/21)

For parents registring their children for the 2021 season and have credits issued to them by OBSA for the 2020 season these credits are tied to your email address that you used to register your child for the 2020 season.  These credits are viewed at the time of checkout. If you recieved credits for the 2020 season you would of received an email from the league notifying you of these credits at the time of season cancellation for last year.

In the event that Stanislaus County returns to the ‘Purple Tier” of the Blueprint for a safer economy, refunds will be issued according to the the schedule outlined below:

  1. 100% refund if OBSA is forced to cancel the season on or before Monday April 12th (4/12/21)
  2. 50% refund if OBSA is forced to cancel the season between Tuesday April 13th (4/13/21) and Saturday May 22nd (5/22/21).
  3. 0% refund if OBSA is forced to cancel the season on or after Sunday May 23rd (5/23/21)

(NOTE: If you are using credits from the 2020 season to cover the registration fees for 2021, these credits are treated like cash and in the event of a cancellation due to returing to purple teir you will will be refunded under the same guidelines and terms as mentioned above for registrations paid in full for this season).

OBSA is planning for a complete season to be finished by July 31st, 2021. We cannot control the Blueprint for a safer economy or any other related COVID-19 protocols; furthermore, as a public non-profit agency, we are bound by the laws, regulations, and public safety orders of the state and county. We appreciate your patience and understanding in these trying times. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email or you may also message us on Facebook.

DISCLAIMER: By registring your player you hereby acknowledge that in the event that the season is cancelled after the season starts (as outlned in #3 of the refund outlines above) due to the Govenment of the state of California and/or the state or county health departments returning us to the purple teir -or- from modifications of the restrictions outlined by these governering bodies in regards to youth sports and their ability to operate, you hereby acknowledge that refunds will not be issued as per the guidelines mentioned above. We do acknowledge that this is big deal for many but based on the dates listed above there will be thousands of dollars invested per team to play and these funds will not be able to be returned to the league to allow us to return it to the parents. (Please note the refund structure and outlines as mentioned above).
